Beyonce’s “Black Is King” Trailer Featuring Other Black Superstars Released

Global superstar Beyonce Knowles on Sunday debuted the first official trailer for her upcoming visual album titled “Black is King”.

Originally filmed as a continuation for her Lion King album, the new collection will be released on July 31, two weeks after the one-year anniversary of Disney’s live action Lion King in which Beyonce played the role of Simba’s love interest Nala.

Referring to the Black Lives Matter protests which came as a response to the death of George Floyd, the Houston, Texas-born mother of three said : “The events of 2020 have made the film’s vision and message even more relevant as people across the world embark on a historic journey. The album is meant to celebrate the breadth and beauty of black ancestry. We are all in search of safety and light. Many of us want change. With this visual album I wanted to present elements of black history and African tradition with a modern twist and a universal message, and what it truly means to find your self-identity and build a legacy.

Black is King features apearances by her rapper husband Jay Z, her mother Tina Knowles, former band mate & singer Kelly Rowland, supermodel Naomi Campbell and actress Lupita Nyong’o.
